She was first married in 1954 (divorced later in 1968) to her co-star Mel Ferrer and the second marriage to Andrea Dotti in 1969 (divorced later in 1982).

Her son Sean Ferrer has three children. Gregorio Ferrer and Santiago Ferrer were the sons of Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Giovanna Gregori, and Emma Ferrer is Sean Ferrer and Leila Flannigan’s daughter. What was Audrey’s relationship with her Grandchildren, especially Emma Ferrer?

Audrey Hepburn has never seen her grandchildren. She died on January 1993 from appendix cancer and her first grandchild Emma Ferrer was born in 1994, only a year after Hepburn’s death.

Even though these two ladies have never met personally, they have a lot of things in common. One of the most similar things between the two is the look. Emma Ferrer, who did her first ever photo shoot as a fashion model, surprised most of Audrey Hepburn fans for her stunning look and how much she resembled her grandmother. In her own words, “As a child I could not really relate to Audrey Hepburn, the actress. To me, she was family,” Emma told describing her feeling towards her grandmother during her childhood period.

While replying about if she has anything of her Grandmother, “All I can think of are her cashmere turtlenecks, which I adore and wear all throughout the winter,” she said, “And a white antique stuffed teddy bear.”

The most admirable comment that Emma Ferrer made about her grandmother was, “Somehow, seeing her in her younger years, it reminded me that I do, in fact, carry her spirit along with me”.

Emma Ferrer  has not shown any interest in acting so far. Though she did her first ever photo shoot for Harper’s Bazzar at the age of twenty, four years younger than her lovely grandmother when she appeared in 1953’s Roman holiday and won an Oscar for her brilliant performance. Instead, Emma is a very bright student and is aspiring to be an artist rather than becoming an actress like her grandmother. For fulfilling her goal, she has graduated from the Florence Academy of Art.

The Audrey Hepburn Sons- She Bares two Beautiful Boys

Her beauty was often as much a gift as it was a curse. She was romantically linked to plenty of colleagues and co-stars but married only twice; to Mel Ferrer and Andrea Dotti. Audrey Hepburn spent her last years in the informal marriage arrangement with Dutch actor Robert Wolders. The marriages in her life produced two children; Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Luca Dotti. She desperately tried to have more children because she was very fond of having a large family.  Her two children were the result of trying to have children 6 times, meaning that she had 4 miscarriages.  Audrey Hepburn’s miscarriages were due to stress from overworking and malnutrition. The children went on to become their own men with Sean in particular an accomplished film director and humanitarian much in

Sean Hepburn Ferrer

Sean Hepburn Ferrer was always going to have a career in the film industry. A keen student of the arts and a huge fan of his mother, he took to the industry like a duck to water. Among A-listers he has worked with include Michael Fox, California ex-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Ritter and his very own mother. He also wrote a book about his mother titled “An Elegant Spirit” and is an accomplished humanitarian, founding the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund. He later relinquished the reigns to Luca Dotti, his younger half-brother, as he went on to become the Honorary Chair of the Audrey Hepburn Society for UNICEF under the US Fund. He had three marriages to Marina Spadafora, Leila Flannigan and Giovanna Gregori that failed. He is currently married for a fourth time to Karin Hoffer.

Sean Hepburn went on to have three children namely Santiago, Gregorio and Emma Ferrer. The eldest of the three is model and art student Emma. She is feted for the natural poise and beauty her mother possessed and is already a hit in front of the lens. Born in 1994, she looks the best placed relative to the legend’s throne of incomparable beauty. She has already graced the cover of Harpers’ Bazaar in August 2014 and has a bright future ahead of her. While Emma is the daughter of Sean and first wife Leila Flannigan, her brothers are from another mother, Gregori Giovanna. Santiago and Gregorio Ferrer are young boys finding their way in life following on from the divorce of their parents in 2009.

Luca Dotti

Luca Dotti is the other son of Audrey Hepburn from her second marriage to Andrea Dotti. He is a more modest man with a real satisfaction about life. He informed the public how little he knew of his mother’s fame when he said she only worked hard in humanitarian service before coming home to be a mum. The lad is quoted as saying his dream home would be a house with a garden, one which he fulfilled, and he wishes to stay away from the spotlight. He wrote a book about his mum’s favorite memory which is titled “Audrey at Home, Memories Of My Mother’s Kitchen”. He is married to Domitilla Dotti.

The Audrey Hepburn legacy goes beyond her acting awards, humanitarian impact and flair for dressing and looking the part. She is portrayed as a woman of huge influence to a generation and this is all the more clear once her family lineage is traced. Her children are humanitarians and accomplished artists with food and film and their children are steeped in the family culture. Despite numerous marriages and divorces, the spirit of love and care is evident in the Hepburn, Dotti and Ferrer households, no doubt inspired by their famous mother and grandmother. They may be lacking the recognition and fame accorded to their maternal heroine but the children and grandchildren of Audrey Hepburn are very much like her after all.
