If you can’t afford the $450 Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses or are looking for a slightly different look then you better check these incredible options out.

Celine Inspired Sunglasses

If you haven’t heard of Celine Sunglasses, do yourself a favor and google them, they are also another $410 pricetag shocker! However, their shape is carefully modeled after the Audrey Hepburn sunglasses that were worn in the film.

Now conveniently I have found the same glasses at the fraction of the price. These lovely looking spectacles are large oversized horn rimmed sunglasses that feature 3 tiny rivets on each corner of the hinges.  The hinges sit high along the temples. The subtle subdued colors and large oversized silhouetted figure make this a wonderful choice for the warm and sunny season!  Get these if you are on a budget, if you don’t like them for some odd reason (i have two pair), they only cost you $159.99 . That sure beats a $400 price tag!!!  I am now personally promoting these ones from my site, so pick them up with confidence.

I found some ones on Amazon that are a little bit lacking in quality but are actually really affordable and they look identical to the Celines!  They only issue is that the hinges are a bit “sticky feeling” and are a little cheap.  Aesthetically, they are the same! Yay!

In order to accomplish and pull off the look of the Holly Golightly Apartment, you must accomplish most of the items below.

Bathtub Couch

The bathtub couch / sofa is really the focal point in the Holly Golightly apartment because it is truly a unique piece of furniture that.  Not only has it become an iconic decor piece, but also a great talking point.

The bathtub couch is hard to find since it’s so unique, however, if you do find one, they are really expensive due to their rarity.  Your best bet is to make a bathtub couch yourself from a vintage claw foot bathtub.  It’s really not as hard as it looks.  If you don’t have any tools, ask a friend to borrow some.

Stacked White Vintage Luggage

I think this looks absolutely beautiful! Stacked white luggage can be seen in the Holly Golightly Apartment right next to the entry door.  It makes a very nice accent piece that shows that you’re always on the move and LOVE TO TRAVEL.

Note that the above luggage is really expensive.  I happen to own one of these brands and they are well worth the money… but again, it’s really expensive. You can definitely find other luggage that looks the same for dirt cheap at craigslist or ebay.

Say what? You don’t have time to look at craigslist and ebay everyday? Me neither.  I have a better way, I let technology work for me and tell me whenever someone posts a new item regarding luggage in my area on craigslist.  How does this work? A simple app called IFTTT which stands for IF THIS THEN THAT.  It’s a lot easier than it sounds, trust me!

Telephone in Suitcase

This is a little quirky and hobo-ish, however, it’s a cute idea that pays homage to Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Even if you don’t have a phone line, you can stage it as decoration.  Buy an old rotary phone (like this one)  a vintage suitcase, stage the phone on the suitcase or store it in the suitcase just like Holly!

Get the overall feel of the Holly Golightly apartment by having the following:

• White kitchen cabinets and appliances … upgrade to stainless for a classier feel. That’s what I would do.  I do not like the white appliances unless they have a very nolstalgic feel.
• Vintage looking 1960’s fridge – I love these fridges… love love love!
• Dark Hardwood Floors – There is something always classy about dark hardwood floors
• High ceilings – I think 10 ft would suffice in this case. It would provide a New York studio loft feel
• Large white base trim – Notice the trim around the floor base and doors. It’s a good architectural grade trim.  The large trim pairs good for large spaces like this.  Don’t use large trim in a small space! Just don’t do it! it will make your space look incredibly tiny. Make sure that the trim looks good for the space.
• A Terrace Divider – I think that this would be optional since it’s not really as noticable. If you haven’t noticed, I am talking about the white terrace divider that is located to the right of the fridge.  This would fold out like those japanese standing curtains and partition a space.

Old Wood Chest or Crate as Coffee Table

You can notice a large wood chest in front of the bathtub couch that acts as a coffee table.  I think it looks really nice and adds a touch of awesomeness to the apartment with oodles of character.

Cast Iron Bed

To complete any HOLLY GOLIGHTLY apartment, you’ll need a good solid iron bed.  The iron bed transports me back to a more innocent, refined, and magical time like in the 1900s or 1800s.  I think it is a timeless piece and cast iron is all the rave right now.  The style below I thought looked really cute!

Birdcage

You forgot that Holly has a bird? Shame on you. The birdcage is located in Holly’s Livingroom and is an essential piece of decor because “nobody is gonna put me in a cage!”

I think something that has an old vintage effect will look good inside the apartment.

Maybe you don’t like sleep masks? In that case, it makes a great decor piece.

Holly Golightly takes sleep seriously.  So why not look good while doing it?  You can make these ear plug tassles really easy.  Just go to your local bed, bath, and beyond, go into the curtain section and locate the rope with tassles (to tie your curtains).  Then attach them to earplugs however you’d like.

Classical Guitar

To lull your man closer to infatuation with you, you’ll need to learn how to play moon river on the guitar… but… if you are not musically inclined, you don’t have to play it, you can just display it as decoration.  It doesn’t have to be an expensive guitar either.  More rickety the better because it usually means that guitar has more character.  You can probably pick one up for $50 at craigslist. Or find a decent one on Amazon, like this one here.

Alcohol & Vintage Music

You can’t have any big parties without alcohol and music. Ok, you can, but not any good ones! Take a look at the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Soundtrack to get an idea of music from the movie.

Cat and Dog Masks

These are the cat and dog masks that Paul and Holly wore when they were stealing at the 5 and 10 store.  If you didn’t catch on, masks are one of the big themes/ symbol-isms in breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Have these as a reminder that we all wear masks everyday even if it’s not made out of plastic.

Old Typewriter

You’ll need an old typewriter for when your Paul moves in so he can work diligently.

An Orange Cat named cat

You’ll also need an orange tabby cat named cat that will bug you when you get out of bed.  You also have to name him Cat.

Why and How did Audrey get such a cute Deer?

Her choice in an animal companion proves unusual and strange for a multitude of people, fans, and Hollywood historians alike. But what are the details behind the Audrey Hepburn deer? How did she acquire it? What was their relationship like? Discover the details behind one of the most ageless icons in American history and one of her more subtle differences that separated her from most of our idols.

During 1959, Hepburn was on the set of Green Mansions for filming. An animal trainer had a baby deer, or fawn, present as one of the animals to be used during the scenes. Since Hepburn would likely be interacting with the animal a great deal, the trainer requested that she take him home with her as a means of creating a trusting relationship.

This would provide a believable relationship on screen, as well as provide the animal loving actress some quality time with a furry friend offset. What better way to wind down after a day of filming and shooting than with a cute animal? Most of you would likely agree, as did Hepburn. The fawn’s name was Pippin, and was very clear to onlookers that, from day one, he and Hepburn had a special bond. Nicknamed Ip,’ Pippin proved to be a very special companion for the Hollywood starlet.

Of course, Hepburn took him home for bonding. She enjoyed his company so much, that she allowed him to sleep comfortably in her custom made bathtub. Sometimes, the inseparable pair would even sleep together, with reports of them cuddling up to each other for affection and warmth. Multiple photographs display Hepburn and her companion, with the actress smiling as though nothing could bring her happiness back, and the deer appearing perfectly content and comfortable to be in her company.

Even newsreels took part in their story, with headlines calling Pippin her co-star.’ Headlines proclaimed Co Star Wins Heart of Actress Audrey Hepburn.’ Some photos even depicted the two having fun with other people together, with one picture showing Audrey with a beer bottle in her hand, pretending to give the little deer a taste. Of course, she was only pretending, and provided only the best possible care for Pippin.

Mr Famous Jealous of the new kid on the block: Pippen?

Unfortunately, as with any circumstance, a little negativity did seep into Hepburn’s relationship with her favorite snuggle buddy. Her yorkshire terrier, Mr. Famous, had some jealousy issues regarding her relationship with the deer. As a European deer, Pippin would eventually grow up to his full size of up to four feet. Despite his size, his attachment to Hepburn made him one of the guests of honor at a number of different events, including parties.

Audrey, the Deer, and the Grocery Store

Sometimes, Hepburn even went to the grocery store with Pippin at her side. One of the photographers that documented some of Hepburn’s private life and time spent on set managed to capture some of these surprising but heartwarming moments. He said of their relationship, “It was truly amazing to see Audrey with that fawn.” Some people even believe that the deer may have thought Hepburn was its mother. Others state that perhaps Hepburn’s natural state of calm drew its affections.

While Audrey enjoyed the company of a number of other animals, including Mr. Famous, Yorkshire terrier Asam of Asam, and a cocker spaniel that went by Cokey, one of the most interesting talking points of her private life proved to Pippin. Hepburn would probably agree that he was one of her favorite companions, co-stars, and backstage buddies. However, not much else is known about the relationship between Pippin and Hepburn.

While some photos exist of the two performing everything from mundane tasks of grocery shopping or walking down the street together, no research really turns up what became of the deer. Did it continue to live with Hepburn once it grew to its full size? Was she able to continue providing a loving, affectionate, and attentive life for the fawn? The only photos available include those from when the deer was very small, and some from when it grew a little bigger – knee height to be exact. Yet, no images show Audrey and her full grown deer.

What happened to the Audrey Hepburn Deer?

There is some speculation about what happened to the deer, but no hard facts. Some say Hepburn had to give the deer back to the trainer after the movie was completed. Others suggest that perhaps she no longer had much time for the deer. It is not uncommon for people to acquire pets that they are not prepared to provide sufficient time for. This can become even more likely when the situation involves an exotic pet – such as a deer. Once fully grown, deer require a paddock or fenced area in which they may graze and move about freely.

It can be very difficult to keep a deer fenced in properly, as they are prone to leaping overgreat heights. Not to mention, deer are very difficult to train, even when they are raised from being a fawn. While deer, especially female ones, can often be kept as pets, they require special care and handling. Did Hepburn realize that she was not capable of providing this? Or perhaps, since it is often speculated that Pippin was male, the deer grew horns and tended toward its instinctive aggression.

We can only imagine the difficulty of handling a creature nearly as large as a person with sharp antlers that can prove to perform as weapons. The fate of Pippin is a mystery shrouded in speculation, and no one is really sure what became of him. However, the photographer, maid, and many other witnesses agree that Hepburn and Pippin enjoyed a pleasant, refreshing relationship, while complimenting each others’ personalities.

A new Audrey Hepburn commercial has been release.  She is back in a new commercial for Dove Chocolate in CGI form (Computer Generated Imagery).  Dove had hired visual effects studio, Framestore to work on the CGI.  However, get this…

The New Audrey Hepburn Commercial took over a year of work to complete the 60 seconds of video!

HOWEVER… the question is, is this disrespectful? Creepy? Well… she is dead. What will her CGI resurrected self going to sell next? Hanes T-shirts? Maybe frosted flakes?

Now for those who are screaming that Dove is abusing and exploiting her image, they did have consent from her estate (Lucca and Sean) to use her image.  And according to Sean, Audrey always had one piece of dark chocolate to treat herself.  The commercial shows her eating two, at least get it right guys!

Anyways, I still think it’s creepy! But in a cool way… I have very mixed feeling about it.  You be the judge.

The Making of CGI Audrey

Below is an excerpt from the CGI company Framestore explaining the time intensive process they went through to create such a stunning commercial.

[quote_box_center]The process started with an exhaustive search for the perfect Audrey Hepburn double. The hope was to find someone who could give [director Daniel] Kleinman the performance that he needed, and ideally to share as many of her features and characteristics as possible. Framestore then completed a round of extensive pre-shoot facial scanning at its in-house Capture Lab in order to deliver the complexities demanded by this project. This included a FACS (facial action coding system) session that allowed the team to record more than 70 possible muscle movements and capture high resolution textures for building their CG Audrey.

After the shoot, Framestore set about building a facial rig using the FACS head scans as reference for themultitude of shapes the human face can achieve. For each of these shapes, combinations had to be carefully created to allow the face to blend convincingly between expressions during the animation process, which was pivotal to authentically reconstructing the actress’s face. Facial scanning usually provides exact shapes of the person who needs to be recreated, but in this instance, the scans only provided a template based on the double who, although she looked similar to Audrey Hepburn, was nonetheless a different person with different nuances.

The 3D team built the model of Hepburn, making use of the star’s entire feature film catalogue, plus all available press and documentary photographs as reference.

However, as there was no technical lens information or measurements available for such old footage, it was quite an inexact science, involving tirelessly tweaking to refine the model from every possible angle.

The biggest challenges in recreating an authentic and unmistakable Audrey Hepburn proved to be the eyes and smile. Although the actress was cast for her eyes, and originally the team had hoped to use the real eyes and build the CG face around them, as post-production progressed it became clear that recognition was key to the success of this ad and, close though the actress was, full CG was the only way to get it right.[/quote_box_center]
